Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods

Bath and Body Works just released their newest scent, Twilight Woods, which they describe as their “warmest, coziest fragrance ever”. Well, that’s quite a statement! The packaging does have a warm feel to it, with silhouettes of trees in mauve and copper tones, so that’s a good start. The scent was inspired by a romantic walk in enchanted woods and features notes of apricot nectar, mimosa petals, and Tuscan cyprus.

The reviews so far for this fragrance are great, and I’m sure that Twilight Woods fragrance, bath and body, and home scented products will be on many a Christmas wishlist this year. Plus, the name contains the word “twilight”, and goodness knows how crazy popular that word is these days!

Top Notes: Juicy Berry, Sparkling Mandarin, and a hint of Coconut

Middle Notes: Creamy Frangipani, Soft Mimosa, Wet Honeysuckle, Wild Freesia, and Apricot Nectar

Michael Kors Very Hollywood Fragrance

Michael Kors Very Hollywood — the bottle alone will make you feel like you’re living the jetset lifestyle of an international Hollywood starlet. The glitzy, blush-tone vessel contains a fragrance that is sweet, feminine, and floral with notes of mandarin, gardenia, bergamot, and finally vetiver, which gives the fragrance sensual, earthy undertones.

Very Hollywood is a younger, flirtier scent and will hold great appeal for the youth market, as well as Project Runway fans everywhere, who love watching Michael Kors thow around terms like “farty” while looking completely underwhelmed.

Marc Jacobs Lola Women’s Fragrance

Marc Jacobs follows up on the success of the wildly popular Daisy fragrance with the new Lola fragrance. Lola is Daisy’s older sister, and what a lovely older sister she is. The warm floral scent is housed in a gorgeous bottle, featuring purple glass, gold rope detail on the neck, and a a fantastically creative stylized rose ornament in shades of red and purple on top.

The fragrance features playful top notes of pink peppercorn, pear, and ruby red grapefruit, and middle notes of feminine rose, fuchsia peony, and geranium, with a dry down of warm tonka bean, vanilla, and sensual musk.

Harajuku Lovers Perfumes

I’m a sucker for cute, so I can’t help but love Gwen Stefani’s line of Harajuku Lovers fragrances. The scents are obviously geared toward a younger market and features fragrance notes such as “lollipop accord”, but the bottles are a must for cute addicts of all ages. You can collect all five, which include Love, Li’l Angel (I’m sure that the Li’l is so Thierry Mugler doesn’t come a knockin’ with his lawyers), Music, Baby, and G, which looks like a little Gwen Stefani.

Love and Luck Fragrances from Ed Hardy

The Love and Luck men’s and women’s fragrances from Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier sport some kickin’ packaging. The scents and the packaging are highly influenced by Japanese pop culture and certainly appeal to the hip youth market in Japan, but these influences have seeped into the US over the past couple of years, as well, with exposure from musical artists like Gwen Stefani. Harajuku girls, anyone?

The Love & Luck men’s fragrance features bottle graphics influenced by Asian tattoo art and the Tokyo night life, while the Love & Luck women’s fragrance features geisha-inspired art. The stylish bottles and bottle art, coupled with rave reviews by both men and women, put these scents on my “collectible” list.

More gorgeous limited edition fragrance packaging, this time from Issey Miyake in the form of L’Eau D’Issey Summer (a floral with musky tones) and L’Eau D’Issey Summer Pour Homme (warm and woody with spicy accents). I love how the pattern and design is incorporated into the type on the bottles. The limited edition 2009 bottles evoke the bright, daydream-filled days of summer, and the Summer fragrances are classics.

Lavanila Health Fragrances

I’ve been intrigued by Lavanila since I first saw their perfumes a couple of years ago. The company was founded by Danielle Raynor and Laura DiGirolamo, beauty junkies who both wanted to find a fragrance that didn’t make them itch, sneeze, or get headaches and other allergy symptoms. The pair set out to create a luxury fragrance that was actually good for you, and when they realized that this was possible they started Lavanila.

Lavanila natural fragrances all have a vanilla note, but that doesn’t mean that they’re “vanilla”, so to speak. I can’t find a scent that doesn’t appeal to me, from the lovely tropical Vanilla Coconut, to zesty Vanilla Grapefruit.

The Lavanila line has recently expanded to include aluminum, paraben, and propylene glycol free, “The Healthy Deodorant”, in Vanilla Coconut, Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Grapefruit, and Vanilla Lavender scents. All Lavanila products, which now include everything from body cream and body wash to scented candles and lip balm, are free of petrochemicals, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oils, silicone, synthetic dyes, sulfates, and parabens.

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Summer Fragrance

Sometimes a perfume bottle is pretty enough that I don’t really care what the perfume smells like. Sure, it would be nice if it didn’t smell skunky, but even if it’s just eh if it has a fantastic bottle and packaging, then I’ll still covet it.

Jean Paul Gaultier definitely has the fabulous bottle covered with his new limited edition fragrance, Classique Summer. His trademark bottle, shaped like a lovely, curvy woman, comes alive with bright pink, groovy graphics, and the fragrance is a summery take on his Classique fragrance, lighter and alcohol free.

Absynthe by Christian Lacroix for Avon

Following on the heels of the successful fragrances Rouge for Her and Noir for Him, French couturier Christian Lacroix has again partnered with Avon to release Absynthe, a fragrance inspired by the forbidden potion known as “the green fairy”. The mysterious, bright green-yellow libation was thought to cause hallucinations and was a favorite of 19th century artists and poets.

Absynthe was released in March 2009 with a gorgeous ad campaign, prominently featuring the drink’s trademark hue not only on the perfume’s stylish bottle, but also in campaign model Vlada Roslyakova’s flowing chiffon dress.

Absynthe Fragrance Notes: absinth, anise, freesia, narcissus, saffron, smoky woods, myrrh, ebony, musk, and amber.
