Woohoo, the 2009 Yankee Candle Autumn scent collection is out! Yankee has introduced 8 new scents, with lots of spicy, autumn inspired goodness and some bakery and woody scents, too. Just reading the new scent descriptions has put me in the mood for leaf peeping and warm apple cider.

Here’s what’s new:

Almond Cookie : Rich almonds and buttery vanilla baked into an irresistably luscious treat.

Autumn Fruit : Celebrate the harvest with lively blackberries, sweet grapes, and juicy pears.

Be Thankful : Appreciate nature’s goodness in the warm, inviting aromas of a Thanksgiving kitchen.

Farmer’s Market : The freshest bounty of Autumn — sweet berries, juicy apples, succulent peaches, and warm spices.

Lakeside Birch : The beauty of a brisk and bright autumn day is reflected in clean birch and cool water.

MacIntosh Spice : Crisp, slightly tart, and simply delicious apple slices sprinkled with freshly ground cinnamon.

So, you’re a candle addict, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Believe me, I know how it is because I’m a member of your club. But did you know that you can transform your favorite scented candles into little “lamps” that coordinate with your decor?

Yankee Candle has candle shades that will fit any decor, from rustic country roosters, to pretty, feminine florals, to chic mosaics, and mother of pearl shades that add an upscale touch. Yankee also creates shades for holidays, and I think this is a fantastic idea. Holidays, particularly Christmas, tend to be the times when everyone breaks out the candles. I know that this may sound strange to you since you’re probably thinking, “Why wouldn’t they have candles out every day of the year?!” But decorating your candles will add even more to your holiday decor.

eBay has a nice selection of Yankee Candle shades that have been retired from the Yankee site, so you’ll have a much better chance of finding the perfect shade for your home.

Yankee Candle is all about fresh florals with their Spring 2009 scented candle collection, which includes the distinctively spring-like Cherry Blossom and the light, sweet scents of Garden Sweet Pea and Plumeria. All scents are available in a variety of jar sizes, as well as tarts, air fresheners, and more.

Yankee Candle World Fragrance Collection (Discontinued)

Yankee Candle introduced the World Fragrance Collection in early 2007. The collection marked a step in a new direction for Yankee, including more complex and exotic scents featuring pure essential oils and extracts sourced directly from each candle’s namesake region.

Yankee retired this collection in 2008, but I do hope that they put out more of these evocative types of scents in the future.

Yankee Candle Christmas Wish (Discontinued)

I remember thinking that Yankee’s Christmas Wish scent couldn’t possibly have been good, and I wondered how so many people could be raving about such an odd scent. How could a blend of pine and vanilla sugar cookie smell nice? So, I popped into the nearest Yankee Candle shop and picked up some tarts, took them home and burned them, and was pleasantly surprised by this scent.

Actually, it makes perfect sense why Christmas Wish works. Pine and sugar cookies are two cherished holiday scents, and together they make Christmas in a jar…or tart, or what have you. Yankee discontinued the scent long ago, but they still bring it back sometimes at the holidays, and there are lots of Christmas Wish goodies floating around on eBay during the rest of the year.
